			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>January – Initial meeting with 12 community leaders from private and nonprofit sectors to consider forming a “Virtual” organization to link volunteers and community resources around the Los Angeles area. Steering committee formed.  July Summit is proposed.</p>
<p>February -  DOVIA LA provides seed funds and in-kind support.  Volunteer Center of Los Angeles becomes fiscal sponsor.  United Way of Greater L.A. develops mailing list.  L.A. Junior Chamber of Commerce agrees to host meeting.  Kumamoto Associates provides a Facilitator.</p>
<p><strong>March/April </strong>– Planning meetings for Connect LA Summit begin.</p>
<p><strong>May </strong>– Connect LA becomes first Connect America partner.  Connect LA calls for Conference papers of best collaborative models.</p>
<p><strong>June </strong>– California Community Foundation funds Connect LA Summit.</p>
<p><strong>July</strong> &#8211; Connect LA holds first Summit with 80 community leaders</p>
<p><strong>August</strong> – Connect LA Follow-on projects begin.</p>
<p><strong>December</strong> – Focus projects include :</p>
<p><strong>Job Training :</strong> Dolores Mission/HomeBoy Industries/L.A. Jr. Chamber of Commerce</p>
<p><strong>Health :</strong> Connect LA convenes Teen Age Grief training session with Cal State Los Angeles Pat Brown Institute’s Gang   Violence Bridging Project and All People’s Christina Center.</p>
<p><strong>Volunteer: </strong>Connect LA and DOVIA establish Standards and Guidelines for Student Volunteers.</p>
<p><strong>Collaboration: </strong>Connect LA convenes a meeting for the Youth Empowerment Project with Amateur Athletic Association and   American Humanics Inc., Los Angeles Chapter.</p>
